- How do you do therapy with a child?
and art in my therapy. Play allows me to work with a child in their created schema. They can lead the play theme allowing me to see their issues and help guide them to a new understanding. Also, children can work on their issues more easily when engaged in play or an art project. They are relaxed, their defenses are down and we can more effectively discuss the connections between their feelings, thoughts and behaviors.

- I use an assessment at the start of therapy. You and possibly the school may fill out a questionnaire. We will reassess in 6 months and rate the change in symptoms. Also we will regularly discuss your child’s progress. You will be the best measurement as you will notice that your child is happier.

- I compare myself to a coach or tutor. I tell children that I am here to help as a “feelings teacher” to help them understand their feelings and behaviors. We work together to guide them toward feeling less anxious, happier and in better control.
- Can you speak with the school?
- Yes, I can meet with your child’s school personnel when needed.
